So... Founders is no longer an independently owned brewery, which is why you haven't seen it on the taps at Barbaro much recently. For the majority of our taps we try to select beers from breweries who haven't sold out to the man.
However, when one of your craft beer reps calls you up in April and says, "You've been allocated a 7 gallon keg of KBS. Do you want it?" You kind of say yes.
The KBS - Kentucky Breakfast Stout - is a limited-edition imperial stout brewed with coffee and chocolate, then aged in oak bourbon barrels for a year. It's an 11.8% ABV sipper that tends to give you a nice warm glow. Barrel-aged imperial stouts are the best.
We were saving this beer for a special occasion, and this morning we woke up and realized that the weather in San Antonio is very autumn-like, and there's been a lot of negative shit happening this weekend for a lot of our friends at the coast and in Houston and all these other parts of Texas, and we thought that was a special enough of an occasion to tap this beer.
So if you're into the idea of a glass of Founders KBS, come see us today and get treated to some friendly faces.
Stay safe, and know that you guys dealing with Hurricane Harvey in a more major way than we are in San Antonio are in our thoughts and in our hearts.
